The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program is a competitive program that offers over $2 billion in annual funding to domestic small businesses to engage in Research and Development (R&D) that has the potential for commercialization. Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) is another program that offers federal funding for research and development through collaboration with university researchers.
