Oregon BEST accelerates commercialization of early stage technologies developed by universities and small businesses in Oregon by providing access to funding for Research, Development and Deployment of innovative cleantech products. Oregon BEST can provide assistance in proposal development for accessing federal funding under the SBIR/STTR Program. Oregon BEST can also provide funding directly through the Oregon BEST Commercialization Program.
Funding from the Oregon BEST Commercialization Program is structured to fund collaborative Research & Development projects conducted by a small company in partnership with a university researcher or lab. This funding is intended to make a big impact in moving new products to market and to achieving success in securing follow-on financing and initial customer traction.
This funding is designed to assist researchers, inventors, and entrepreneurs in activities that might include proof-of-concept demonstrations, laboratory validations, prototype development, small scale pilot programs, technology trials, or market validation. Proposals from private/public teams are selected in a competitive process based on criteria including market size, intellectual property, competitive differentiation, go-to-market strategy, management team composition and technology readiness.
