$50,000 PSU Cleantech Challenge

Build a prototype in 90 days for a chance to win $25,000 and recognition as a cleantech innovator. PSU and Wells Fargo combine forces to launch an exciting new competition for campus cleantech innovators and entrepreneurs. Students and faculty are invited to compete for a cash prize pool of $50,000, with semi-finalists announced in late May and a grand prize winner in September. Semi-finalist teams will have the summer to work with $5,000 development grants to turn concepts into working prototypes or final products. In September, semi-finalists will show off their projects to judges from around the region, and a grand prize of $25,000 will be awarded at Oregon BEST FEST Sept. 11-12 in Portland, OR. Apply now.

$800,000 for Renewable Energy Project Development Assistance Funding
Energy Trust of Oregon has issued a competitive RFP for renewable energy (non-solar) projects seeking development assistance and funding. Awards range from $40,000 to a maximum of $150,000 per project, from total available funding of $800,000.

$250,000 Prize for Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation Design Challenge
Calling manufacturers to design a product for the affordable housing market that is safe for human and environmental health and is designed for re-use, returning safely to soil or to industry forever after its use. Sponsored by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute and the Make It Right Foundation, up to twenty finalists will receive two months of media exposure and promotion for their products leading up to the announcement of the winners at Greenbuild 2013.

$35M CCEMC Grand Challenge: Innovative Carbon Uses

This Alberta initiative supports bold ideas from around the world that will make significant and verifiable green house gas reductions. The CCEMC is committing $35 million (Canadian) in funding for the most innovative technologies that will convert CO2 emissions into new carbon-based products and markets.

Ocean Wave Energy Trust (OWET) Funding Opportunity
OWET, funded by the Oregon Innovation Council, is accepting applications for its Commercialization Grant Program, designed to help wave energy startups move their technology closer to being ocean-ready and nurture the industry in the state. The trust has $200,000 for startups working toward commercialization. More info. 

New Export Assistance Grants for Trade Shows/Missions
The U.S. Small Business Administration has awarded Business Oregon a $375,000 STEP (State Trade and Export Promotion) grant to help Oregon businesses access critical export markets. Oregon companies might be eligible to receive grants of up to $5,000 from Business Oregon. Funding can be used for trade show or trade mission participation fees, booth costs, freight costs to and from a trade show, interpreter/translator fees, etc. For more info, visit Business Oregon's website.
 
SBIR/STTR Assistance Funding Program for Oregon Businesses
Helps Oregon small businesses access federal funding opportunities by providing matching funds for SBIR/STTR (Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer) proposal preparation. If approved, Business Oregon will match the applicant's contribution (1:1) for one of three eligible expenditures: (1) a proposal writing consultant; (2) a proposal review consultant; or (3) attendance at a qualified SBIR/STTR conference.
