Oregon BEST hosts, sponsors, and participates in green building and renewable energy events to foster collaboration between Oregon businesses and the state’s network of university researchers and laboratories. These collaborations lead to new green technologies, companies, and jobs for Oregon. Oregon BEST Member Faculty, staff, and leadership serve as panelists, speakers, and presenters at conferences, workshops, summits and other events related to Oregon BEST's mission.

Designing the Smart Grid for Sustainable Communities
This two-term course series, offered by the Executive Leadership Institute at PSU, will examine a set of emerging concepts, technologies, applications and the complex trade-off decisions related to transforming the nation’s century-old, centralized power grid into a climate and renewable-energy-friendly “Smart Grid.” The course series stresses a cross-disciplinary approach, deepening individual areas of expertise in the context of teamwork. The first term creates a Smart Grid literacy, while the second term applies the knowledge base to case studies. Both terms include lectures, active learning strategies, individual and group projects, class presentations from guest speakers and seminar participants, field trips, regional case studies. Advanced Invention to Venture: Oregon
AI2V is a four-day intensive workshop, sponsored by the National Collegiate Inventors & Innovators Alliance (NCIIA), for founders of technology start ups--including student and faculty-led teams--interested in advancing their technology down the commercialization path. It provides instruction, exercises, pitching, and coaching, complete with real-time feedback from coaches and investors. Oregon State University Campus. The NCIIA also offers significant grants to university-based entrepreneurial teams.
